How the UAE overtime calculator works
The UAE overtime calculator starts with basic monthly salary because many UAE overtime searches focus on whether overtime is calculated on basic salary rather than total compensation. The calculator divides the basic salary by the entered working days per month and normal daily hours to create an estimated hourly basic rate, then applies the multipliers selected for normal overtime, night overtime, rest day hours, and public holiday hours.

Free zone employers, public-sector employers, domestic worker arrangements, maritime or transport categories, management roles, and contract-specific terms may not follow the same simplified assumptions.
UAE overtime estimate formula
The formula intentionally separates normal overtime from night, rest day, and holiday assumptions. That separation makes it easier to compare the result with an employment contract, wage slip, or official UAE labor source.

Suppose an employee in Dubai has a basic monthly salary of AED 8,000, 26 working days per month, and 8 normal hours per day. The estimated hourly basic rate is about AED 38.46. If the person works 8 normal overtime hours and the selected multiplier is 1.25x, the tool estimates AED 384.62 in normal overtime pay before any other categories.
If the same schedule includes night work or public holiday work, enter those hours in their own fields instead of adding them to normal overtime. Keeping the categories separate reduces the risk of overstating or understating the estimate.

UAE labor rules and official guidance can change, and different categories of workers may have different treatment.
