Suppose the hourly wage is ZAR 60 and the worker has 5 overtime hours at 1.5x. The tool estimates ZAR 450 in overtime pay. If the same person enters 3 Sunday hours at 2x, the Sunday estimate is ZAR 360, shown separately from ordinary overtime.
Keeping Sunday and public holiday work separate helps prevent a single multiplier from being used where a different rule or agreement may apply.
BCEA and threshold notes
The Basic Conditions of Employment Act and related official resources should be reviewed for overtime, Sunday work, public holiday work, exclusions, and earnings-threshold issues. Senior managerial employees, certain sales staff, workers above earnings thresholds, and sector-specific roles may need separate review.
